Ladies' guide to daily outfits and accessories that you can afford with items even from your own closet

I think plaid has come a long way and for a while, it used to get a bad wrap. Now, it's such a widespread trend. You can see it all over on Pinterest. If you don't already own something plaid in your closet, you should!

Not only do headbands look great, but they definitely come in handy when you may be running a little bit behind on time when you're getting ready in the morning. It's always smart to have more fashionable headbands on hand when you just aren't in the mood to really do your hair, but want something extra to add to your look.

During these winter months, and the fall months, boots are a great item to have in any woman's wardrobe. You can swap out your heels or flats for any type of boot. They go with pants, jeans, skirts, dresses, and leggings.

However, there are certain things you need to make sure of for your boots.

1. Every woman should own a brown pair and a black pair. Then, you will for sure have a pair to go with any outfit you may wear.

2. Always use a weatherproofing spray on your boots. You don't want to spend all this money on them just to have them end up getting ruined by the elements of nature, especially if they are leather or suede. You can find weatherproofing spray at Target, Wal-Mart, etc.

3. It's not just about being stylish, but comfortable too. Now a days, boots come in many different styles. Don't buy a pair that you'll only wear once because it's so uncomfortable you can't stand them. You need to make sure you test them out at the store or in your house before you commit. If you can't last in them for more than an hour, then you need to take them back to the store. You'll end up finding another pair you love that are in fact comfortable.

4. Don't go crazy and splurge on boots. You can get boots that look just as expensive and nice as high end brand ones for a reasonable cost. DSW has such a wide variety of boots. If you can't find something there for yourself, then I don't know if you're going to find it. They have every color and style under the sun!

5. Don't be afraid to add extra flare with boot socks, leg warmers, or boot cuffs. This is one of the biggest "in" trends right now. You shouldn't think you'll look strange wearing these. It adds a whole different look to your outfit and boots. In addition, they're a cheaper way to add a different dimension. You can find these at DSW, Marshall's, TJMaxx, online, and more.

*Below you'll find some great boot finds at reasonable prices.*

As funny as that may sound, that's exactly what I thought of when I needed to think of a name for the look. It's definitely a feminine take on the outdoorsy, manly look.

Who says pastels are just for spring? There are lots of great ways to incorporate pastels into your winter wardrobe, along with wearing what I like to call "winter pastels."

You, of course, don't want to over do it by wearing lots of pastels at once, but you can always incorporate them into your wardrobe in the winter by wearing a pastel shirt or pants and pairing it with sweaters, boots, skirts, leggings, tights, and more. You want to be subtle with the pastels as to not look out there and like you're just clinging to the hope of spring coming soon. In addition, this is a great way to bring a little sunshine into your life and we all know we can sure use that during these cold, winter months.

As for winter pastels, these are pastel colors with a darker/grayer hue to them. They still have that pastel undertone, but aren't as strickily bright or light as your usual pastels. You can see some of my winter pastels, as pictured above, to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

These are probably one of my favorite finds EVER!!! I was just thinking about wanting to buy a pair of lace boot socks, but NOW how great to be able to make my own, save money, and make some as gifts for others in the process. I'm sure any girl that loves her boots, would love to get a pair of these for Christmas. They are just so elegant and chic, and I absolutely love the button accent.

Below is the link on how to make these boot socks, and if you happen to make them or any of the 25 days of Christmas Wearable, Handmade gifts, please feel free to post pictures and share how it went. I'd love to see all the amazing gifts that people have made.

I know how hard it can be to wrap your mind around having to put all your cute, summer clothes away and get your sweaters out and ready for winter weather, especially if you live in the Midwest. However, some of the cutest and my most favorite fashion trends come out this time of year. Who doesn't love boot socks/cuffs, fleece leggings (If you don't own a pair, you need some. They are AMAZING!!!), and of course, SCARVES?

Here's a great outfit to start easing yourself into the winter mode at work without having to start wearing all those bulky sweaters yet, and this outfit has a great, unique scarf to really tie the whole look together.
